The red light.

So when I turn on the red light at night to feed, or just watch quietly in the middle of the night (I know, I know, I've got problems.lol). Can they(ball pythons) see, or does it still seem like a completly dark room to them?

I've asked my snakes, but noone is talking.....

Yer right, They won't tell ya squat. It's been debated weather or not reptiles see red lights for some time. I find that they react to the red spot lights, a hundred watts or better, when I turn them on. But a sixty or seventy five watt doesn't seem to get a reaction. You can also try green or blue lights, as it's said that they don't see those either.
