Handling a Timor

AbstraKt Oct 02, 2005 10:13 AM

how should they be held? holding their legs would irritate them and make them mad right?

they should not be handled. they are way to flighty and nervous. unless you absoultely have to, don't, they really don't like it and all you do is stress them out. they are great animals to view and appreciate from a distance.

dont handle it unless it is absolutely necissary, you will just cause the animal stress that it doesnt need, they are very shy and dont like human contact. if you get a timor just leave it be, only clean the cage when its hideing otherwise he will freak out till he is use to you

monitors dont like to be held they dont enjoy human contact, they do not get"TAME" they get tolerant of us. they are not pets , a pet is a dog a cat or a hamster. im not trying to be rude but you dont seem to understand. timors will be 100 times more happy if you give them plenty of hides and ample climeing space, than if they were being taken out and "handled" or "molested" all the time . now some monitors are more tolerant than others, ackies are good to start with. and dumerils are good. if you want something to play with get a dog.
