Upper Respritory (spelling?) help?

nogoodteen Oct 02, 2005 04:31 PM

OK. I dont know for sure if this is UP but I need to know. I have a female that does a little whisle some times and I noticed when I had her out today that she had alot of saliva in her mouth. It might have been I just made her mad trying to open her mouth but I dont have a clue. She eats like a pig, never turns down a meal. Shes at 1900ish grams and keeps growing. Could this be UP? If it is is there anything I can do to get rid of it with out seeing a vet? Someone told me to put a little Listerine in her water bowl, like a tea spoon full. I need some help, I've seen UP in Burms before but not in Balls. She has never mouth breathed, never puffed her throught out, never blew bubbles or anything. If anyone can give me some helping tips, either that I can use as precautions just incase it is or what I can do to get rid of it will be greatly apriciated.

Thanks very much,
Blake

Keep an eye on her if she gurgles wheezes or continues to have discharge from her mouth then you do need to see a vet. Do not give her Listerine in the water! If it is an RI then you need to take her to a vet and get her started on antibiotics. If it's very early stage you may be able to kick it with raising the temps and humidity in her cage but if it's gotten to the point where you are seeing mucus then it's vet time.

it sounds like a resp to me.... or the start of one anyway...

raise the temps (95 hot and 80's for cooler) and get the humidity REALLY HIGH, try putting the water dish over the heat pad to do this.......

watch her close and if it gets ANY worse, then see a vet right away to get some meds for her.
