odd second clutch

reuben Jul 20, 2003 09:13 AM

I was just surprised by an unexpected second clutch of eight very good looking eggs. I'm curious, though, that these new eggs are much longer and more "perfect" than those of the first clutch which are just now hatching. Have others out there noticed a different shape of eggs from one clutch to another. Should I suspect that these eggs are 'too good to be true' and discard them, or weight the 80 odd days 'till they hatch?

well, if the eggs still look good, theres no sense in throwing them out. my second clutch was the same way,a little longer, and no imperfections.the shells on the new eggs were also thinner and softer, but hardened after a couple days.i say incubate them,if they are not fertile they will turn yellow and cave in,chuck them at that time.
