Honduran Scale Problem

hwh Oct 02, 2005 07:20 PM

This female developedsubject growth on her lower third, left side. It is medium-hard skin/tissue with no discharge ever.
It appeared and has maintained this size for approx 8 weeks.
She is not distressed nor discomforted in any way that visibly appears. She is eating and otherwise acting as normal. She laid one clutch of 10 eggs this season and has molted with no disruptions. She is also eating as per usual. Her substrate is currently carefresh but i have also used aspen shavings in the past. Anyone that has encountered this and has some info, i'd love to hear your 2 cents.

Thanks

Brian

I should have mentioned that she is possibly 10 /- years old.

It could be an abscess. Reptiles do not form pus as mammals do. Instead, they form a firm casseous-like material which feels hard to the touch. Other possibilities would me a tumor or cyst. Have your vet remove it and send it out for histopathology. It looks small enough that it would be fairly easy.
