how often do you all feed your adult JCP's

janome Oct 02, 2005 07:37 PM

mine recently shed and i thought he would eat but he wouldn't touch his f/t rat. he last ate like 3 weeks ago. i'm going to wait and try in another week. i know they can go long periods with out eating but how often do you feed your adults?
since he is 3 years and 7 foot i was thinking he is adult size now. thanks for any input.

also he seem just content to hang out on his branches and doesn't seem to active right now. is this normal also?

I guess JCPs very. Mine will eat the day before a shed, the day after a shed, F/T, live, mouse or rat, my hand or yours…..

My Irian Jaya has to be in the mood to eat, but handles great. He is content to just hang out on me. He doesn’t like being put back into the cage and tries to get out afterwards. But he’s hard to feed! He won’t graduate from live hoper mice. And you better make sure he’s done with the first before you give him the next one.

You seem to be going threw the same thing I was going threw with my ball. I ended it with a LIVE hoper rat. The only problem is she won’t go back to F/T, it looks as if it might have coasted her an eye in a bad kill. The Vet doesn’t give it much hope.

I guess it’s just like people; you got to take them on an individual basis and take the good with the bad.

Good luck!

P.S.: She looks well fed so don’t worry about her starving just yet. Worry is normal, we can’t help it, it’s just a mammal thing!

I actually have a few females that have already shut down after having the last cool front move through. It is normal for them to greatly reduce their feedings as fall approaches.

And that snake looks plenty healthy enough to fast for a while.
