question about Shedding

I was wondering how often a red eared slider shed?
also his shell is kinda shedding too... pieces are flaking off....is this normal??

it depends, i have had some of mine shed the outer layer of their scutes. frequency depends on rate of growth and the faster they grow the more they will shed their skin and scutes. as far as shedding scutes goes i would say as long as it is not exposing bone or other tissue it should be fine. just keep an eye on it.

I bought my CB western painted as a tiny hatchling 11 years ago. He would shed a lot as he grew. Now that he's basically adult sized I've noticed he sheds at this time of year, he's just finished doing it this past week, but he no longer sheds all through the year as he did when he was growing up.
