Help! not sure what to do with these Eggs!

BDs_forever Oct 03, 2005 01:17 PM

I had a 1-yr old female lay about 20 eggs a couple of months ago and have been incubating them in a homemade "picnic cooler" type setup. (picnic cooler with aquarium heater inside, metal rack with eggs on vermiculite inside a plastic box sitting on the rack, 84F temp) and checking on them daily. They have grown steadily and most of them look healthy and white.

A few of them however I am not sure about-- the largest one (seems to be about 1.25" in length) has dark spots that seem to be coming from INSIDE the egg. I am not sure if this is a dead egg or mold inside the egg or maybe just part of the normal stuff that's in there? The egg is very large and I am afraid that if it is mold then if it were to burst then the mold spores would spread to the other eggs. I do not want to disturb the egg either if it is OK.

I have taken some pics of these eggs and I hope someone can take a minute to look at them and give their opinion-- should I remove them or just "wait and see"..

Thanks so much for the advice!! I am new to this!

I gathered that they were dragon eggs from your name

While it is more likely that these eggs will not hatch, at this point I wouldn't worry about touching anything.

If you see a huge folding of the shell or mold growth on the outside of the shell, then remove them.

The eggs look fine .... What it looks like to me from you pics is what you see is the animal inside. Don't touch a thing now and don't forget to post the pics when they all hatch.

I see this in my eggs quite a bit ... they look good to me.
