can some on please tell me what size red eared sliders get to?

i always though that males maxed out at 7 inches, and females at 14 inches. but a few websites i have seen says that the males and females BOTH get to 14 inches.

can some one please tell me what to believe?

males are definitely smaller. those sizes you quoted sound good but will only really apply to exceptionally large individuals, remember that not all will get that big no matter how well cared for.

if the nails are really long, REALLY long, it is a male. also the cloaca on the female when looking from below lines up with the upper shell, on the male it is farther down the tail. when giving the length it is better to give the carapace(upper shell) length. total length and plastron length will just confuse people. if you havent noticed exceptionally long nails iit is a female, given the size at only 2 years i would guess female but it could be an eceptionally large and fast growing male. im assuming it was a baby when she got it 2 years ago? if not, how big was it?

Males stay smaller than females. Females can be as big as 14 inches. Males will not reach that same size. It sounds like that RES your friend has might be older than 2 years. That is an exceptionally fast growth rate. Posting some pics will help people identify the gender for you.
