Q about Breeding

tailswithscales Oct 03, 2005 06:07 PM

I have heard that Ball Pythons will breed just to breed, is this true? Meaning the female is not cycling/ovulating but will breed with the male anyway. I currently have three females that have stopped eating and are huge in girth. I have not seen the swollen belly yet but watch for it everyday. I had female reduced pattern/banded breed on 08/21/05 to a male banded reduced pattern. They were locked for 36 hours. She had stopped eating two weeks prior to the breeding and looked very girthy to the point her scales were stretched.

I think I am rambling. lol Anyway guys, is this true? Will BP's mate just to mate?
Thank you,
Christine

...and a sizable % won't produce, but a sizable % will too.
