RES vs. Eastern Painted

goini04 Oct 03, 2005 06:52 PM

Hey guys,

Just thought I would bring this question to the turtle experts. How does care for an Eastern Painted compare to that of an RES? Are their ultimate diets similar or far different? I would assume housing and temps would pretty much be the same. I am curious about the diet differences however.

I would appreciate your responses.

Best Wishes,

Chris

res get more herbivorous with age while painteds stay pretty carnivorous their whole life. considering that they can easily be found in the same water they will obviously, as you have already pointed out, be the same in all the other aspects of care. so ye as you expected they do differ in diet.

I have both and I must say the Easterns are my favorite.
Their needs as far as husbandry are very much the same.

My RES will eat more vegetation than my painteds. The
RES will eat just about anything while the painteds are
much more picky.

They are both great turtles to have.

Personality wise, I like RES better. My sister had an Eastern Painted and I have had several RES and I just like their personality better.
