Feeding Question

hevychevy427 Oct 03, 2005 06:58 PM

My dragon is now 3 and a half mos old. He is still eating crickets but he will really eat greens well. I understand that when they get older they should eat more greens then crickets, but how old before they start doing this. I give him crickets at dinner time. I give him salad in the morning to eat all day. Then he gets his crickets...about 10 or so then he gets more salad in the evening. Thanks
Nancy

They should have a diet of 90% protein 10% vegetables/greens/fruit until they are around one year old then they should eat 10-20% protein and mostly vegetables/greens/fruit.

10 crickets is not much for a young beardie--they need a lot more protein than that as they are growing fast at this age. Drako ate 20-30 crickets (sometimes more) a day until he was close to a year old.

You are fortunate to have a baby who likes vegies--just offer more protein for a few more months.
