Has anybody ever heard of a kingsnake trying to eat itself? It looked like mine was trying to do that today. I've been dealing with snakes for over 15 years and have never seen anything like it. If you have input, I'd like to know what you think! Thanks!

I've had a garter snake grab her tail while chasing a fish around in a circular bowl. She let it go after a few seconds.

I've heard of and seen pic's of a ringneck snake (another snake-eater) swallow it's hind 3rd, but I can't remember if it stopped on it's own or if the owner intervened.

If you're conerned if this ever happens to your snake, you can always douse in cold tap water or otherwise disturb the snake to regurg/let go.

If you are concerned with that, you may need to feed your snake more. I had an albino striped cal king that was ALWAYS ravenous...and would bite anyone and any thing in his way. I rescued him from petco when i worked there because no one would go near him but me. He even ripped the leg off a loose tokay once! ANYWAY...he did bite himself a few times....you may consider feeding him larger prey items to keep him full(er) and avoid the self cannabalism.
