Vision rack owners.......

For those of you that are using them, what are your thoughts? How well do they hold heat? Did you have any problems with heating the tubs last winter? I live in Los Angeles and don't have a heated room and I remember some people saying that open air racks wasn't the way to go. I currently own an AP rack and love it but like the bigger size tub that visions use. Has anyone switched from AP to vision? I'm leaning toward another purchase with AP but I gotta keep my options open.

Regards,
Mike

We highly recomend using Vision racks in our oppinion. They are the best deal out there for the money for housing any small animal not only ball pythons.

I got 2 of the new ball racks at Daytona in Aug. and so far I like 'em fine! They aren't open on top, there's a plastic panel with air holes in half (for on the cool side). I'm in S E Fla and the temp in my snake room ranges from 82 daytime to 78 at night and at those temps it works well using a herpstat thermostat. I don't know how well they would hold heat in cold climates but it seems like they would be ok.

This is the info I'm looking for. I don't know if anyone has has their rack long enough to see whether there might be an issue with heating in the winter time. Thanks for your input.

I had my Vision racks for most of last winter. I use primarily room heat so I have not really tested the heating, although I do use it for a small gradiant. However, I did have a brief power outage which reset my room's Tstat to it's default setting of 55*. Unfortunately, that happened when I was out of town and I had a very cold snake room when I got back.

At any rate, the snakes in my Vision rack were fine, acting normal and warm to the touch. The snakes in my other racks were cold, tighly coiled, etc.

Needless to say I was really stressed out and did not take any temperatures. I was more concerned with getting things fixed. But I was impressed with the Visions.

Also, you could always wrap them in Reflectix insulation, a fire-rated radiant barrier.

BTW, I love my Vision Racks.
