Hot keepers, I need your help !

hc16 Oct 04, 2005 02:38 PM

Hi everybody

I have always (well, almost ) been interested in snakes and in venomous snakes.
However, because I know that I don't have the time and the skills to handle a snake properly, I don't have one yet.

Anyway, I now have to do a presentation for my "college" grade on a subject of my choice, and I have choosen to present snakes.

I am currently in the process of collecting materials for my presentation and I'm reading a lot of texts. I was able to find a lot of materials on my friend Google for my presentation (care sheets were particularly interesting because they have a lot of informations on the different species). I'm certainly not lacking texts !

I was able to find a huge amount of pictures and of videos of non venomous snakes, but it seems that as the number of hot herp keepers is much smaller, I wasn't able to find a lot of medias for hot snakes (after several hours spent on searching). And the videos of the documentaries are usually crappy (too short, not interesting, just good enough to scare children.. ).

I am particularly looking for a "good" video of a hot snake eating (I don't want just the envenomation, or just the swallowing process; I would like to have both, or at least envenomation+beginning of swallowing+end of swallowing+some steps of it), and I thought I might ask you to help me on this.
Now with new digital cameras it should be possible to take some videos quite easily.

I would also like to have a video of a snake shedding, but also a quite long one. Not 10 minutes of course, but maybe 2-3 minutes ? (so as to select the most interesting moments)

So, could you plase take a video of your snake enclosure next time you feed your beloved snake ? If only some people take some time to do that, I will have (hopefully) maybe 4-5 videos to choose from, I'll select the one that I find the most representative/interesting (maybe with your advice !), and I'll present some extracts of it to the class though my PowerPoint presentation. I will manage so it will be easy for you to send the video (I'm thinking of FTP transfert or so, or even something easier). I would prefer a video of a well known snake (maybe a rattler like an atrox or some bitis specie like a gaboon viper), it will be more interesting for my audience, but as it would already be very cool if I get one video, I won't ask much more !..

If you think you can help, feel free to contact me by e-mail or in the forum, although I think e-mail is more appropriate.

Best regards and thanks a lot for reading !
Ian

I may be about to help you. I shot such a video over the weekend but have not looked at it yet. I do have "state of the are stuff" and can do nice edits & effects. What I don't have a lot of is time. Contact me directly off forum and we can figure something out. One thing is high quality video/audio eats up lots of mb's. of storage.
