Q: pushing force of a BP?

katana600 Oct 04, 2005 03:58 PM

Hi,

I have a 50gal wide and long aquarium for my 5yr old BP and I wonder sometimes if the top screen can withstand him trying to push up. Its a sturdy top, but I'm not convinced the screen is adequately attached to the frame of the lid.

Does anyone know how much force an adult BP can exert?

More than we think LOL. I had a snake escape the other night. Luckily, she did not get too far but she was in a temp cage and pryed the lid open. I'd find a way to secure it.

One heck of a lot!! At the Edmonton reptile show I had my display cage wich is a sheet of plexi screwed onto a base frame with the tubs sliding in. It is snug enough that I have a hard time putting the tubs in and yet my yearling girl could actually nudge the plexi up!! I was amazed at her strength.
