Thanks Michelle, I'm an MSP freak too. It seems like most who post on this forum like the leonis phase better. But I'm with you I like MSP's more.

Here's my best one (I think)

My male MSP...Vivid Reptile strain.
He is the father to the nine eggs that my olive leonis female laid.
4 leonis and 5 MSPs hatched......
I have a REAL nice female MSP I have on permanent breeding loan from my buddy Tom Stevens.....and a peachy orange leonis male to go with her......I will get pics of her soon.....

Beautiful, I don't have a orange msp yet, but there is always next year...LOL... The first thayeri I ever got was a msp, and he is now around 13 years old as far as we can figure. He fathered his first clutch this year well actually the female double clutched so he fathered 2 clutches. He is not as bright as the ones you see here though he came from a wild collected female that came in gravid at an auction, a friend of mine who worked for a wholesaler took the eggs and incubated them and he was the only one she kept, she grew tired of him and I got him back in 99 from her. I thought since he was so old it was about time I gave him a lady before it was to late...LOL..

This is addressed to everyone BUT John Lassiter.

The mother of the sharktooth is John's Orange leonis that he bought from David Weymouth. And the father is Big Yeller that he also bought from David Weymouth.

Alright John your horn is properly blown. LOL

Wow,

He's got some excellent yellow. He should produce some good leonis babies too. Great looking MSP. You know he's not really that old. He should be able to reproduce for another 5-8 years. He'll like you better to. LOL

PS I'm sure he's liking me already LOL

He produced 1 yellow leonis female and a pair of leonis bicolors, the second clutch all came out with granite noses. 1st clutch was 4 msp's and 4 leonis, 2nd was 5 msp's and 2 leonis.

Here's another similar looking one.

That is by far the brightest Thayeri (if not the brightest snake) I have ever seen. The head on the "shark tooth" one is the most unique I have seen but this guy wins the best of the bright shinny objects! Have you noticed the very brightest ones tend to be MSP? Some awesome Leonis come close but the very brightest I see are MSP.

You all have awesome snakes

vichris Oct 06, 2005 06:14 PM

Rick,

Thanks for the compliment on sharktooth.

Those Bodner boys are just way to modest. LOL

Actually I think they bought that orange cheek beauty from Tim Gebhard @ VIVID.

Thanks for all the comps.guys......I should post that guy more often........Chris, yes he is from Vivid........Alot of the really nice thayeri around today originated with Tim's reduced black line of thayeri (which he developed). Tim is definately the top guy in thayeri today, imo. Wish he would post on this forum. He really has some great yellow thayeri on top of everything else he has. I have a couple of great yellow males from him that I want to breed to my yellow babies that I produced this year. Should be awsome, if all goes well. You guys are great. Don't deserve all the compliments, mike, chris, john. Snakes do all the work. Nice to see all the enthusiasm in Thayeri. Suspect its just the beginning. With all the great breeders on this forum, and the great stock you all have, it should be very interesting for years to come. Thanks again guys...mike bod

mexicanamak Oct 06, 2005 10:44 PM

The snakes get the easy part and you have the monumental task of getting them to develop fertile eggs, caring for those eggs until they hatch... and are established and feeding hatchlings that enter our collections.

I agree and also enjoy all the recent enthusiasm in thayeri. As well, I sense the beginning of an expanded and serious interest and I like that. I see a good number of us that are honestly devoted, assembling very respectable breeding groups of these animals and I am excited to be a part of it. Something else about it all that really pleases me, is that we all seem to get along so well. A few of us pick on each other from time to time(CHRIS G ), but it is all in good fun and when it comes right down to it... we all have a lot of respect and admiration for each other and are always willing to share and help where needed.

Good times ahead!

Another mexicana that I just can't step away from.....

vichris Oct 07, 2005 08:06 PM

I agree with Mike K. You Bodner boys have built one heck of a collection of thayeri. Mike K and others of us are darned happy to be able to add some great bloodlines to our collections.

Oh and one other thing. In my family if your not getting pick on your in some kind of trouble. Even my wife has gotten in to the habit. She pick at me all the time in good fun. (It's well deserved).

Here's a shout out to my extended FAMILY. You Mexicana FREAKS.

Mike, You're right there too. My business partner LOST a killer MSP we bought from the Bodner's back in 2003. I don't have any pics of her but she was very close to the one you have. BTW that little 04 male you have is a smoker too. I gotta admit you have excellent taste MIKE K.

mexicanamak Oct 06, 2005 07:42 PM

...has excellent taste and thanks much for the compliment Chris. The Bodners produced some fantastic animals again this year, and not just from their VR orange male. Another thing I like about their thayeri program is their interest in the yellow animals, and they have a great foundation group to work with now. I think it is safe to say that we can expect to see one of the best yellow projects ever, develop out of their facility in the next few years.

And let me say that your collection really is quite exceptional itself. I know your bloodlines, you have a sharp eye for quality and your projects with your thayeri will be noteworthy.

On your recent photos... I really like what you did with the weathered wood stumps on the shots here, and in the main forum. Great contrasting texture, and interesting subtle colors appear with the gray in the sunlight. Very very nice.

Mike

Top photo, '04 VR strain male. Bottom 2, Bodner produced '04 sibling male to the male in my previous post.....

vichris Oct 06, 2005 08:06 PM

Tanks Mike, Sherman Tanks LOL

Yes I've really grown to love the Bodner boys collection myself. Plus they are both really good people to deal with.
And you are right about their yellow collection. They really have some smokers. I've started a yellow collection myself. I took your advice and kept that yellow leonis with the keyholed saddles that I produced this year.

The sharktooth plus these three make up the start of my yellow collection

mexicanamak Oct 06, 2005 09:34 PM

There is an example of what I am talking about when I mention your taste for quality. These three and your milksnake phase male with the great red head, and the bloodlines that back them up... fantastic foundation group. Mixing the females up with the sharktooth milksnake phase male is a premium combination. I like the way you plan your projects.

The keyhole/split saddled female is a special one... definitely my favorite of your babies this year. Good to know you kept her around... smart move.

And your Vermilya male in the bottom pic... we all know what that one is capable of. The animals from Dan's white project produce some extraordinary offspring and you and I both know you are in for some big surprises from him, no matter what female you pair him up with. Great things are coming your way my friend!

John is right, Tim Gebhard produced her. She is still really small for a 2003. I got her in 2004 and she looked like a hatchling. When she matures I plan to pair her with these two males among others.

I should introduce myself, my name is Jason I live in western Wisconsin, and I'm a thayeri addict/freak.

I think the worst thing I ever did was have some sent to my buddy's house......then i would pick them up and put them in the snake room like they were there all along.....but I haven't had to do that for a couple years.....I think my wife enjoys them almost as much as me.

John Lassiter

Rick Millspaugh Oct 08, 2005 12:51 PM

Oh my gosh, wonder why they sent me these? Boy they sure are nice though, I don't even know who this is? Etc.....

mrogers Oct 08, 2005 01:08 PM

NO the totes are not multiplying and yes that one is really for Ken, (Ken Casstevens thought of that one it worked for awhile then we were found out) He lives not far from me and i am the cause of his illness, LOL...made it more fun to have a friend join the illness isn't that what we are supposed to do is share? LOL...
I have a 18 month old daughter that as soon as you pick up a tote from anywhere immediately says snake, poor child thinks every totes has a snake. Even the ones in the store. She points and says nake nake.
