Hey,
I’m not new to reptiles, or geckos in general, but i am new to cresteds specifically.
I’m thinking of getting myself a pair, i just want to know a few things.
First of all,
I use newspaper for all my other reptiles as a substrate, easiest to clean, and they don’t mind it at all;
Could i use newspaper for my cresteds also? or having sticky feet will the ink comeoff or will theyrip it or what?
If not then what else could i use?
Also,
I heard they eat baby food and fruits aswell as crickets. What type of babyfood and fuits?
Also, whould i have a whacky branch inside with alot of texture? or should i keep a rock or something for them to climb on?

I keep my cresteds on coconut shell bedding because I like the way it looks and the females can very easily lay their eggs in it. However I know a lot of people who do keep their cresteds on newspaper. The thing to remember with newspaper is that the females still need somewhere to lay so you'll need to put a flower pot full of coco bedding or something similar in there. I feed my cresteds crickets and fruit based babyfoods. Get the pureed babyfoods with no chunks of fruit and be sure the fruit is non-citrus. Crickets are an essential part of the diet as far as I'm concerned. The females will lose far too much weight if only fed babyfoods even if you use a protein based babyfood. As for cage furniture, live plants are good but cloth fake vines like pothos or something work just as well. Branches of all sizes and textures should be used to give them something to climb on. If you don't care for the nautralistic setup, many people use cardboard egg crates instead.

Hope that helps.
