Meet Ajani...

Don't know if anyone remembers my post from about 2 months ago... The pet shop I work at had gotten in two wc Uros and the male was really skinny and refusing to eat... Well, 2 months later he's eating greens like crazy and gained a little weight, but he's still really skinny. He got me hooked and I ended up buying him. I had a friend do a fecal for me and (to no surprise) tested positive for hookworms. I took him to the vet who gave him some panacur and said that he should do fine now... The only thing that worried him was how underweight he is... (~10 inches and 100g) But I have a feeling that with his appetite he should bulk right up once he's no longer fighting parasites... I can't wait for his color to come back too, when we got him he was an incredibly bright yellow, so much so that I almost thought he was a saharan. He's dulled down a lot because of his health, but hopefully it'll come back soon...

Here's a picture of the two when we got them (he's in back), there was absolutely NO meat on his tail... it was like someone had scooped it out from the bottom...

here he is as of yesterday when I brought him home... still really skinny

Ajani means "He who wins the struggle" which I thought was appropriate. I'll post pics regularly to document his progress...

I can see how colourful he will be once back in shape! I haven’t seen such nice Mali’s in my area yet. Best of luck with him.

well good luck to you and him, is this the one where we could not decide if it was a mali or a saharan? i was thinking just now that is was a mali but maybe because it is skinny, the tail looks different to me than a malis. i am glad he found you to help him get back to good health
