Just got tagged by the CHiPs -- had the money earmarked for an argus...

All within the last seven days:

Driving in the carpool lane this morning -- $271 fine.
Not having exact change at Bay Area toll last weekend -- $25 fine.

What a waste.

Just called the county--the fee, as of Jan 1, is now $361.

Great.

Government-received fine dues goes to governmental applications. The money is supposed to be deployed where percieved as needed (usually and hopefully) as long as you're not talking about a New Orleans levee. Whether the governmental spending is justifiable or not is irrelevant. Your penalty is part of a behavior that characterizes the same government system that allows us to live the way we do, that is, avoiding minor chaos like the misuse of traffic lanes. There are many problems and contrarily many luxuries that could be cited, but, with regards to the luxuries concerned on a monitor forum, it's the same government that allows us to pursue such unnatural causes as keeping Argus monitors for fun.

Thanks for your unintentional help in assisting the rest of us in maintaining our lifestyle endeavors.

I figured someone obsessed with Jack Handey might have a bit more allowance for some tongue-in-cheek self-depreciating humor. I don't generally make such posts, so I guess it hit you off guard.

Next time you share details about personal misdemeanors on the www, I'll bring nothing other than some hankies and a nice big violin, heh heh.

LOL--That's all I was looking for--a nice, big, fat violin.

Fight the Man.
