just a random comment on incubation...

robyn@ProExotics Oct 05, 2005 06:40 PM

two seasons ago, we dropped our incubation temps for our Coxi and Mandarins a couple of degrees, to 76F, and while it takes a bit longer for full term hatching, the babies are much larger, and start feeding more readily, than cooking them at 78F . this has been especially beneficial for the Mandarins, who are typically tougher to get started.

just some info to share : )

Thanks for the info, Robyn, but why would 78* be a problem? Seems like that is fairly low already.

78F is not a problem at all. we have cooked them anywhere from 76F to 82F or so, they hatch every time, i was just saying that even a couple of degrees less has an impact, and so far, all positive : )

I was just making sure I didn't miss something when I went to incubate mine. Thanks for the post.
