Has anyone heard of the black pastel genes having problems with their lower jaw structures such as clest pellets? As opposed to the cinnimon genes.

Has anyone heard of the black pastel genes having problems with their lower jaw structures such as clest pellets? As opposed to the cinnimon genes.
I believe this occured with the first supers (black balls) that were produced a few years ago... although I'm not certain. These animals were all related and this birth defect seems to be related to in-breeding. Outcrossed blood is the way to go. Ian G has worked a few wildcaught specimens into his bloodline.
I picked a CH male this season and any Supers I attempt will be with unrelated blood. If you get a pair with the hopes of making Supers make sure they are unrelated, outcrossed animals.
Can't say whether or not this is also a problem with Cinnny's since the one Super Cinny I know of was from a Cinny to Black Pastel breeding. I believe there may be more super cinnys out there from Cinny to Cinny... any body???

at the Tampa show the guy with the "Chocolate ball" said that Ian's "black Pastels" were originated from cinnamon pastels that he bought from the guy telling me this. I've seen several pictures of both but I certainly can't tell the difference.

I do believe all of the SuperCinnamons/BlackBalls/SuperBlackPastels have the odd jaw/bubblenose going on.
From the pics I've collected I can reliably say that the following have the bubblenose:
Gulf Coast's 'Black Balls' from 2002.
BHB's SuperCinnamon
Ralph Davis's SuperCinnamons from this year.
David Thomson's SuperCinnamons from this year.
As well, Graziani's 'Silver Bullet' balls have the bubblenose.
Bubblenosed or not, the SuperCinnamons are eeeasily one of my favourite morphs, and second only to the Ivories in terms of 'solid coloured' balls, as favourites go.
Hope this helps.

Has anyone actually measured the size of their snouts? I think it may just look wider/larger because it is a black snake with all white snout/heat pits with no pattern to break it up like there is on every other ball. Someone should measure them and compare them to others of the same size to see if it is just an optical illusion.
