Feeding Question.

Foreman Oct 06, 2005 10:26 AM

I have a wild caught black rat which is about one month old. He ate pinkies like candy (one every 4th day) then all a sudden he has just stopped eating. There are no changes with in his cage. He is nippy when you first attempt to pick him up but then calms down nicely afterwards. Not nearly the nervous hatching I thought he might be.

My question is how long can a one month old black rat safely go without eating? He has shed only once so far. His eyes do not show any signs of being blue.

Any thoughts?

As long as he has clean water, he can go for over a month without eating.

I have one that is about a year old that went on a fast until after he shed. His fast lasted about four weeks. He is eating again just fine.

Good luck with your snake.
