First Pics of new Okeetee Corn Snake

wpglaeser Oct 06, 2005 10:29 AM

Grabbed the pinkie yesterday afternoon, no problem. No constriction, just sniff, sniff, grab. Then swallowed it butt-first!

Temporarily (maybe permanently) named "Tia".

The eating pic is blurry because the camera focused on the deli cup. Others show nice coloration.

In the habitat pic, she loves to burrow under the paper towel substrate and lay under the lava rocks.

I'll give you a comment, Cute Snake! It looks a lot like my snake Niblet. She is an Okeetee and my first snake. She is almost 3 months old; How old is your snake?

She is "Tia" and she was hatched Aug 17th, I think... that makes her about 7 weeks.

Great name and beautiful snake. Oketees are my favorites of all the corns...

Her eyes just turned blue today. What's the timeline for shed once that happens?

Also, we just got her another hide for the warm side (it's a half tree bark thingy) and replaced the 100W infrared bulb with a 75W Day-Glo Spot. We also removed two of the four lava rocks. Plus, I overlapped the broken flower pot on the cool side with the water dish, so she doesn't have to "unhide" to get to the water.

Whenever we return her to her cage after handling now (it's been over 48 hrs since the pinkie) we put her directly in her water to train her to soak.

Cool! Niblet was born on August 15th!
When Niblet first went into shed I found the skin about a day or 2 after her eyes had turned blue. Then I took it to school and showed my friends! Some thought it was cool but others freaked out!

usually the eyes will go "blue" then the snake will clear up and look almost normal and then two to four days later it will shed.
