Q about breeding and interbreeding.

jenni270986 May 18, 2003 09:18 AM

i havn't bred leos before and was hoping to start with my partial reverse lav stripe female. i know where i can get a male just like her but there is a big possibility that it could have either the same mother or father as my female. shall i leave it and go to a completley different breeder to find a similar male?
also any tips on breeding would be a great help
( i know basics, conditioning etc, but any tips are great!)
cheers
jenni

Interbreeding a leo to her father or her brother is okay but I would probably try to get a separate bloodline to keep the genepool pure. If not, then don't worry about it too much. My leo just laid eggs and really, all you have to do is let the leos do what comes naturally. Make sure the female is nice and healthy before you breed her and make sure she has a dish of calcium in the tank at all times. After the eggs are laid, you can use many different kinds of incubation techniques but I am using the one that can be found on Albey's website. Hope this helps a bit!!! Good luck!!!
