Peruvian female or male question

karate1wjka Oct 06, 2005 07:04 PM

I just bought a 8ft female or male Peruvian, can you help me decide. I noticed as I removed it from the box it came in and the snake rapped around my arm,the spurs scratching the back of my arm. I've had snakes with small spurs but this snake has more than I think he/she should have if it's a girl. Also I've noticed the stuby tail it has like my other females. the snake is eating 2 1/2lb rabbits every 2 weeks with no problem. I'm not sure what this snake is m/f can someone help...........

The only way to be sure it to probe her, if you cant do this yourself, check your local herp society or a pet store with a good herp guy and they should be able to do it for you. Spur size and tail length are not always good indicaters and if you have a female with big spurs or a male with a short tail and you pair it up with a same sex boa you won't get much breeding done. Although you can try playing YMCA on the stereo!
