Morning surprise

eastarch Oct 07, 2005 08:16 AM

Last night I candled the eggs I have to see if I could see anything. I decided that the oldest two looked dead. Imagine my surprise this morning to find one of those two had hatched. She is looking a little dehydrated right off. Now I am hoping some of the others will hatch. There are still 5 henkeli, 2 fimbriatus and 1 pietschmanni in the incubator.

i really hope that i get some pietschmanni eggs one of these days. do you keep yours warmer or dryer than the rest of your leaftails?

I keep the pietschmanni slightly drier than the rest. The temp is the same since I don't heat any of them. They get what I get, room temp. For Massachusetts that is usually 70s. I heat to 70 in the winter and put on the AC if it is going into the upper 80s. I actually haven't had the pietschmanni for more than 4 months so I don't think I have had that much to do with it.

Here are the remaining eggs.
