Nice baby Damon, I especially like the WC to WC from nearly the same spot breeding.

Nice snake Damon,...........for a limestone type blairs. LOL

Damon Salceies Oct 08, 2005 11:20 PM

I even photographed it on igneous rock to make it a little more impressive for some of the brown alterna hunters LOL.

Doug Beckwith Oct 09, 2005 10:12 PM

Thanks for the reminder.......nice rock!! I didn't mean to dis the rock on my first post.

DB

Damon Salceies Oct 09, 2005 11:49 PM

That's OK... I can understand the oversight. It's hard to recognize igneous rock like that when you have so little experience getting out of the air conditioned comfort of your road-cruising vehicle to observe it in its natural state LOL.

And no Doug... having the air conditioning set on "vent" does not count.

Doug Beckwith Oct 10, 2005 10:01 PM

Very good Damon, you got me this time. I especially liked the vent comment. I won't put up much of a defense at this time.

The last 3 or 4 years I have been doing much more walking, probably in the neighborhood of 40 to 50% of the time. I'm trying to be persistant and continue to do so even though all I ever get to look at is igneous rock since I rarely see anything serpentine on the cuts except the occasional scolopendra (sp). Maybe one day....

Once I get tired of finding zero snakes walking for a night, I tend to road cruise the next. I think this walking cuts and finding snakes of any kind, let alone alterna, has been made up by you eastern limestoners.

I'm glad to hear you're getting some fresh air. It's tedious at times but you'll never forget finding one that way... it's a vision that will burn itself into your memory. It's also a good excuse to keep the ol' ACL healthy anyway. Of course road cruising in a 2005 Mustang GT might be too much fun to pass up. Congrats.

Doug Beckwith Oct 10, 2005 11:52 PM

I must say I do enjoy getting out in the nice desert air even if I don't seem to find much. I hope to have something other than a lot of rock emblazened in my memory someday.

Good point on the ACL and just to clarify it's a 2006 special order in Alterna, I mean tungsten grey, which is new for 06. I might actually enjoy it once I get past the money side of things. It is pretty sweeeeeeeeetttttt!!

West is still best for beauty and snakes (alterna) and yes I'm referring to the Bend.

c'mon doug thats chump change for you!!

brad anderson Oct 11, 2005 11:08 PM

AMEN! I'm sure Nancy has one just like it too!!!!

Doug Beckwith Oct 11, 2005 11:26 PM

Now it would be a bit insane to have one just like it for Nancy.......hers is black and are spare is red (orange is not available, but there always is a custom paint job available) so we can have all the basic colors of alterna covered within our fleet. I was thinking of getting a brown one also to cover the occasional Davis animal too. After all that's the color Damon seems to think most of them are from there and most pretty much look alike from there anyway at least says DS.

Thanks to you as well for perpetuating incorrect rumors.

By the way my first car payment is coming up.....wheres my 5 bucks? Go Gators!

DB

brad anderson Oct 12, 2005 03:21 PM

I sent all my money to Jon for feed lizards! Buttt, if you email me your mailing address I will send you 5.00 out of my kid's lunch money. How'd the Gators do against Bama???????

Doug Beckwith Oct 12, 2005 10:51 PM

is poorly, which ends up w/ one in the loss column, kinda like what TN had after they played FL. Notice I said one, which is all the gators have at this point, although if they don't start playing better soon they will have more in the next couple of weeks.

Oh yeah, back to that one word, don't you wish you could say the same about your beloved Vols. Good thing LSU collapsed in the 4th quarter and that they beat UAB by 7 in the first game otherwise you might not be getting out of bed in the morning.

Thanks for being a good sport Brad and for donating to my new car fund.

Looks like you got some nice critters from DD, I would assume the 277's are nice too. Good luck w/ those.

Thanks for perpetuating an incorrect rumor. Besides you must have me confused w/ you. I'm not the one who will be retiring before 50 and who has an RV parked out front just to put up guests for the night.

Chump change indeed.....but for you, not me there buddy. lol

fyi, got rid of that gas guzzlen rv over a year ago, as far as your new car goes am sure you paid for it out of yours and nancys petty cash fund, mr. alterna vista!!

John Fraser Oct 13, 2005 06:31 PM

Doug,
I just have to know, Last time I talked you said you wanted to move to west Texas as quickly as possible... I didn't know you meant by driving a $27,000 sportscar?

BTW, How do Mustang GT's do on dirt roads (ie.
the one to Sunny Glen)? I bet they throw a lot of paint-chipping gravel..... Just some thoughts......JF

Doug Beckwith Oct 13, 2005 11:12 PM

on the dirt road. Hi John, thanks for your concern and thoughts.

First of all nothing has changed about wanting to get to our new home on that dirt road in sunny glen ASAP. The new car purchase has done nothing to change our schedule.

This probably is not the best place to respond to this and I will probably be accused of going off topic, even though it was brought up by others, I will address your thoughts below:

While cars may suck on dirt roads; I would agree w/ that assessment if those dirt roads were in Sanderson or say Pandale dirt. The sunny glen section of dirt road is maintained by the county very regularly and is always in good shape. We have traveled that road for 11 years in rented cars, including rented Mustangs last June and September. We have never had a problem because the road has always been in good shape no matter if it's June, Sept, March or even Dec. We are not talking the dirt part of Pinto Canyon road (2810) here.

I kind of figure that this is my last real shot at having the car that I want before taking the vow of poverty once the move is made. While I too am generally as frugal as you, but probably not Siefer (lol), unless it turns out to be a lemon and since I keep cars for a long time, I expect to have this car for 10 years or more. Our other vehicles are a 10 year old Grand Cherokee and a 15 year old jeep Wrangler. We also wanted to have something newer and hopefully more reliable than our 2 older vehicles as well as American for all the right reasons, but mainly so we could get it worked on locally (Alpine) when necessary. This re-designed model of Mustang is the first American vehicle I have actually really liked in probably 15 years. At least I didn't wait and buy the 45K Shelby due out next year.

As for as the car spitting out paint chipping gravel, that may be, but I don't think I have to worry about that since I won't be driving behind myself.

BTW, nice web site and congrats on some nice animals produced this year.

Doug,
Thanks for the response & J/T & no offense intended, I had just the urge to needle you about the car. Thats a good plan, keeping it for the long haul, its really the only way to get your full moneys worth out of it. Thanks for the compliments on my website, had a quite favorable response from interested alterna people accross the country. Hope to see you both next spring in W TX. John
