breeding my female

phaetonnn Oct 08, 2005 01:49 AM

my female reverse okeetee is doing well and getting to breeding size. I'm into burms, the corn is my girlfriends, but she gave me the ok to breed. now my question is, what other type/morph of corm would be a great match for a reverse okeetee to make some rare, nice looking babies?

if it helps, she was sold to me as a creamsicle, but looks like a reverse okeetee, or a HIGH white creamsicle.

Well, if I remember correctly a reverse okeetee is just a line bred amel (not 100% though) and a creamsickle is a Pantherophis guttatus x Pantherophis emoryi with amel blod in it. So either way you have the amel gene in there somewhere. So unless you have some hets you are going to get amels and normal het amels.

Creamsicles have a very wide range of colours. The Corn described could very easily be a Creamsicle and not a Reverse Okeetee. If you were sold a snake as a hybrid, then you should really consider it as such. There's no way of contradicting the seller and proving that it's a pure Corn - looks alone won't do it.

So for starters, please make sure that any offspring are sold with reference to hybrid parentage.

Having said that, I agree with the previous poster - Creamsicles have a healthy set of Amel Corn genes, so find either an Amel Corn or another Creamsicle.

If you can find a different "shade" of Creamsicle, you could end up with some very attractive hatchlings with a nice variety of orangy shades. Not everyone is a Pure Corn Nerd like me (!), and there's a solid market for good-looking Creamsicles.

yeah, looking through a few pictures on this site, makes me believe its more of a high white creamsicle than anything. I'll try to snatch up a big amel or creamsicle male for her, so creamsicle x amel=? , creamsicle x creamsicle=creamsicle.

hey, i was looking around, would breeding my female with a striped creamsicle make anything happen? kinda just wondering.

phiber_optikx Oct 08, 2005 01:54 PM

yes, You would have babies that are het for stripe. So breed them together and you would get striped creams. OR you could get a really light orange creamsickle and have Peaches & Cream!

>>creamsicle x amel=? , creamsicle x creamsicle=creamsicle.

creamsicle x amel = CREAMSICLE. Creamsicle is a hybrid cornXemoryi carrying the CORN flavor of the amel gene. Doesn't matter what percentage of the snake is corn, it is STILL a creamsicle. Once a hybrid, ALWAYS a hybrid. It might look more like a cornsnake albino and less like a creamsicle albino, but it will STILL be a creamsicle HYBRID. It just won't be one of the high yellow creamsicles (on average).
