Nice Rock Pic with some Fuzzy Thayeri in the way

Rick Millspaugh Oct 08, 2005 01:56 AM

Okay, I tried to get some new Photos in the sun light. The first guy almost did us both in. He would not hold still AT ALL. Neighbors heard a few choice words I am sure. First pic the sun is too bright, then of course the sun went behind the house and I forgot to change the camera setting so the second one is too dark. So here is VAR-27-05 Male too bright and too dark.

I'm still trying to learn this photo thing. They are better than the last bunch at least. Here is a female I haven't shown yet, check out the "thunderbird" on her head. She is a real beauty.

These are three differnt males, I mauy have shown some very fuzzy pics of one before but at least two of these I have not posted yet. VAR-28-05, VAR-29-05, and VAR-32-05 (I think)

The first two are clutch mates to the spotted one, VAR-22-05 Female and VAR-23-05 Male (I really like this guy). The last is the female I am holding back this year, VAR-7-05.

with those pics. I'd say you're dong a fine job with that camera. Nothing wrong with those snakes either. I love your MSP's.

Here's a trick I use to get my snakes to stay still. Get your snake coiled up in your hands by cupping your hands together and crumpling up the snake in your cupped hands. Give him/her some time to settle down. I even blow into my cupped hands to get them used to me plus it warms them up some too. I then place my cupped hands down on whatever I've chosen as a background. Then pull out your bottom hand but keep you top hand on them to keep them calm. With your free hand grab you camera and get it into position to takes some pics. Pull off your top hand and shoot immediately. I can usually get 2 or 3 pics before they start wandering off.

I use a dark bowl to cover mine.......Just get the camera ready and pull of the bowl.....you can snap off three or four shots before the snake decides to bolt.....

I tried the bowl, they laughed. I did cup them under my hands but I will try your method next time, thanks to all of you for your advice (and please don't stop).

Rick, I loved all the pic's, good job, they are all beautiful.
BTW I am glad all the msp's are male or I would have to be making a whole new order. They are awesome.

the wide assortment of misspelled words and typos in the above posts. It was late and my wife wanted on the computer to check her email.
