First Spider Ball Clutch of the Season!!!

morphkingreptile Jul 20, 2003 05:37 PM

We are so excited our first of four females who bred our young Spider Male Just laid a clutch of 7 perfect eggs She is just 24 months old and our male is about 10 months old . Some males just mature early we got real lucky our lesser platy male had the exact same feeding schedule and didn't mature at all it seems each animal is different they pretty much do what they want to do.

Nice! Albino? You guys don't waste any time, do you?

I like the white creeping up the sides on the spider. That doesn't usually happen until they are older. Very cool.

Jeff,

Here is the female who bred the Spider as of today
I am guessing she will be laying soon what do you think?

Beauty!!! I hope you know the temperature for incubating the eggs. I think the higher temp. produce a female and the lower temp. produce the males...I'm not really sure, though.

We incubate at 90 but 93 or even 85 would still not affect the sex of the offspring snakes are not like lizards and tortoises their sex is determined by their genes I have researched this for years trust me, so far all my ( good eggs ) hatch and the sex ratio is usually about 50/50

Looks like you guys are really starting to strike gold over there this season. Good luck with that clutch. I know I'm wearing a hole in the carpet over here waiting for my new babies to all hatch out there, I can imagine you'll be doing the same for the next 60 days with those eggs

Didn't know if the spiders were co-dom...are the offspring going to be double hets or are some going to show traits from the albinos and spiders? That would be wild and I suppose thats the point. Good Luck with the clutch.
