Can I get some opinions on this "Pastel"?

RyanT Oct 08, 2005 07:07 PM

I'm considering doing a trade for this female but I'm questioning whether she's really a pastel or just a hi-gold normal. I was told it's a bad pic and I totally understand how bad a pic can make a snake look but something just isn't stting right with me. Can I get some opinons? Thanks. Ryan.

Looks a lot like a normal to me. Does it have a clear belly?

I don't know if it has a clear belly or not, this is the only pic. Although looking at the tail which is slightly exposed, looks like alot of "normal" belly pattern there.

Now that the pic is blown up, seeing it in this format, it does look more like a pastel but I'm still not totally sure. I've looked at it so many times I'm biased. Help me out.

you can see that pastel type variation in the yellows but I still can't totally tell. Alot of white outlining too. Damn, such a mystery.

I don't think so - may be a bad picture but it' doesn't have the head blush of a pastel and just doesn't have the pastel look going for it. Get a belly shot and an eye shot before doing the deal. Green eyes and a clear belly are a pretty safe bet. LOL.

He just emailed me again and said it doesn't have the pastel eyes but is definitely a pastel. He knows it's hard to tell by the pic. Yeah, I don't think I'm gonna go for it. I feel bad for him that he got ripped off but I'm not gonna take his place.

You could ask Andre of ASF. He's seen a few and would know for sure. But my money says no.

If I had $250 and an empty tub I'd take her - but I just don't feel very pastelish lookin at her but I've been known to be wrong.

Not a pastel but it is a nice looking normal.

BTW, the eyes and belly do not always mean pastel. I have a normal that has the pastel eyes and the clear belly (when he hatched he even had the faded head).

That's a pretty girl and IMO worth more than a typical female but I wouldn't put a true female pastel value on her.

is that snake close to northern kentucky?and did he have a """true ringer"""to? J.A.?i have seen that snake for$250.

RyanT Oct 08, 2005 10:23 PM

So he was actually selling it as a normal but tried to give it to me as a pastel? I've talked to that guy alot before about other possible deals that never ended up happening. But still, I didn't think he was that way.

leehafley Oct 09, 2005 04:40 PM

no he posted it on a local forum as a pastel and he had some other stuff ,he was even going to trade for any thing but a ball.he said it was not his but a friends that was getting out of balls.i dont know him but i dont think he knew it was a normal.i think he's a boa man. his post did not have prices.i replyed and he e-mailed me pics and some prices.i dont think its a scam.

methistina Oct 08, 2005 10:05 PM

First off, I would never buy/trade for something like a pastel if there was a question to its genetics. Why settle for less than the best? Pastels are competitively priced, it isn't like they are graded as steep as some other morphs.

Here's 2 pics of my bad boy(lol). Notice the flames on the back, as well as the belly. I'm sorry but I don't have a good pic of the eyes or the head but he has the pastel qualities for both. Unfortunately, his colors didn't come out great.
Oh, and just a note since I'm so proud, he weighed in a 202 grams empty on the 29th of sept., and weighed only 68 grams Aug 28th when I bought him.
