how many times can you refreeze f/t food

janome Oct 09, 2005 06:35 AM

ok, i've tried twice with the same f/t rat to feed my jungle carpet python.last week and again this week. i even left it over night to see if he would eat but won't touch it.
i'm not worried about him not eating since i think he had just slowed down a bit. but was wondering if this f/t jumbo rat is still good to refreeze or is just a waste. i have refrozen mice in the past a couple of times but not a rat. i'm thinking i should just trash it.

This is just my opinion, and my way of doing things -- I never refreeze anything I'm going to feed to my snake. If they don't eat it the first time, it's gone.

thanks for reply. i've heard you can refreeze an item once. my python never did eat the rat so i took it out and trashed it. i hate to do that. its a waste of food and money. but oh, well. i guess he is just going into a little hybernation or something. i'm going to wait a couple more weeks and try again. i've heard they can go really long stretch of time without food.
