has any one raised earthworms as feeders....what about pinkies for frogs

how would i do it? is it a goood idea being that i would know what they have been fed.. also i go fishing quite often so i do have an alterative motive, just figure i would kill two birds with one stone..i have also thought about raising mice would it be ok to feed pinkies to bullfrogs and cuban frogs thanks

i big enough frog can take a pinky. i have had pacmans the size of nickels take pinkies, but i dont recommend pushing it. it will probably be better to just buy pinkies. breeding mice is a smelly and relatively expensive affair and if you are only feeding a few frogs you will probably end up with a lot of extra pinkies. i have fed store bought nightcrawlers to pacmans with no problems. they just eat the dirt and there shouldnt be anything bad in their dirt.

Actually, we keep a nightcrawler bin going for alternate feeders, yes. There is lots of info on earthworm worm keeping on the internet, and it is simple to start your own colony. The next time you need fishing bait - you will have them.

Try it - it is really easy - and the worms love kitchen scraps!

Go to the feeder forum and there are some links to advertisements. I believe the worman.com site had some easy to use start up kits.
