best heating source

snakeman365 Oct 09, 2005 09:37 PM

I have 6 snakes that I keep in tanks with lights. I would like to switch to heating pads, because I have been told this is a better heat source. I will be breeding hondurans in a rack system, and they come with a heat system. Could someone recommend a good brand of heat pad. The tanks I have are on wooden stands and I have concerns about heat pads catching the stands on fire. also, do most of the heat pads have thermostats or are they just one constant temp?

They are available relatively cheap everywhere. They create a good hot spot without having to regulate temp(though building a dimmer into the string is best).. They are waterproof and flexible. After using them for a while the bulbs burn out but they still produce the proper heat.A very utilitarian alternative to the standard heat tape.Jeff
