Genetic color transfer in hybrids....???

phiber_optikx Oct 10, 2005 11:12 AM

I was just wondering about what you can and can't transfer color wise... first off I will start with a bit of a silly question... albinism (lack of BLACK pigment) is amelanism no matter what species it is correct? Not includeing hypo.... Well my question is this. Suppose you had an albino black rat snake (amel?) and bred it with a charcoal corn snake. Then bred the offspring together. would this give you hybrid blizzard babies? And if so, would this work with almost all of the corns genetics since they are so closely related? Also, I saw that joliff had some motley black ratsnakes up for sale.... are these 100% black rat or is there corn in the mix? Same question of the leucistic black rat, is it 100% or is there some texas rat in there? thanks for your time.
