Looking for a snake

drawing_a_blank Oct 10, 2005 12:56 PM

I am looking to buy a snake that can fit in a 20 gallon or smaller tank. Preferably one that is under 3 feet long. Also not too expensive either.

thanks

I think you would probably be good off with a type of corn snake, but dont just go buy one without looking the proper care up for them

I'm not intimidated by cornsnakes or anything but don't they get up to six feet? I was looking for something a little smaller like 3 ft or under.

They may get that big, but not all. Well if your looking for something under three feet you could go with a garter. There isnt much thats smaller than three feet that is easy to care for that i can think of, my mind is blank right now. There are trinket snakes which stay pretty small and are pretty easy to care for, seeing my mind is so blank right now i cant really think of anything sorry

i'd say go with a rosy or sand boa. they stay around 3 feet and would do just great in a 20 gallon

i thought of another one how about a hognose

how about a childrens python they need a 10-15 gallon aquarium and grow 3 feet at max and are easy to care for.

good luck you'll enjoy whatever you choose

I think you'd be rather surprised at what a snake over 3 feet looks like. I have a monster Mexican black King thats over 4 feet, really chunky, but he's really not that big at all...If he curls a bit, he easily fits in one hand.

Even a 5 foot corn is still kinda small in my opinion.

Under three feet I'd suggest Rosy Boa, Sand boa, or African house snake.
