Naja-naja Oct 10, 2005 04:34 PM

I was wondering if anyone knew if there has been a corn snake spotted in VA in the past 2 years and if so where?

Considering Cornsnakes are indigenous to a large portion of Virginia, they are here, you just have to look. Though harder to find then Black Rats, they are by no means rare in Va. if your in the right area. I'm in Va. and I found one last year near my property, in a field under plywood, and one DOR in the next county over from me. Good luck. I havn't found any this year, but there are still some good days left during fall. Now's a good time to look. Good luck.

Never herped in Gloucester, but I have in James City county and York. Never found a corn in thoses areas. I'm in New Kent, and have found one, and the dor was found in Henrico co. You may have better luck a little further west.

as far as finding any corns in the appalachians i wouldnt bet on it.i was born&raised up there & have never seen one there.in va. the range is spotty.i would suggest that you hunt the roads at night.( in charlotte cty.) jeff

I don't think you'll have much luck that far west. Shoot for some of the counties just west of Richmond, (central va. area), that are close to the James River and it's tributaries. That's an excellent region to hunt for some corns.

Very nice Va. corn. It does have a nice gray backgroud, and the ventral area is a very nice white/checkboard pattern.
