Try your local glass supply shop. They should be able to get you 1/4" thick glass and the sliding glass tracks also. You could also call visionarium. Look under the kingsnakes "Breeders/Dealers/Stores" Icon to find visionarium. Expect to pay in the range of $75 to $150. You should only need plate glass as it's less expensive than tempered glass.

Just a precaution, a large monitor can break 1/4 inch plate glass with its tail! I have a really nice scar on my leg to prove it. I had a 4.5 foot nile tail whip a piece of 1/4 plate glass, it wasn't the door, it was completely framed front of the cage, door was in the back and made of wood. the thing shattered and the biggest peice fell nd cut me while I was catching the escaping lizard. Since then I only use tempered glass. Aso, I knbow it is a little late but I usually find the glass first, some times from dissasembling old aquariums, some times from salvage stores, what ever, the track is easy to find at Home Depot or Lowes and I build the cage around the glass, this is cheaper than having the glass cut to fit the cage and it really doesn't limit the size of the cage, just the size of the opening.

In my opinion, sliding glass doors aren't very good. I have them on one of my cages. They are very expensive, don't have a very good seal, and are very heavy and awkward. I would go with one of those windows you can get at any lowes or home depot, where it's like sliding glass as both sides of the windown open, but they way they are build they are much more rigid and locked into the frames. From what my glass cost, they are also much cheaper. My glass isn't tempered either, that was a conciderable amount more than tempered. They are also very air tight, so heat isn't lost as quickly and as uncontrolably. You would just put adjustable vents on the sides and adjust air flow from there. Doors that swing open are also an option. You could build a frame for the glass, or just use plexi and it would also be more rigid and sealed than sliding. You can go with whatever suits your particular situation, buy I won't go with sliding glass again. Good luck.

I agree. I do not like slidng doors and prefer swing open doors especially for big snakes and adult monitor, I don't like having to reach around the door to get them. I am posting some pics of the boa cages I built, you can see the whole front opens, I don't have a pic of my big minitor cage, I will try to get one.

thanks for the input... and now I will look into others.. one thing tho what do you mean when you say the ones that are already built at home depot? I have an idea of what you mean but just want to make sure i know what you are talking about here.. do you mean somethin that is built for a house just very small? cause i was thinking about that also... havnt really checked into priced yet tho. Kind of afraid to ha. well if you have a pic or something to show me what you mean that would be great other then that i will have to go back to lowes (was just there a few hours ago ha) and see what they have. Also just thinking about building a frame for a pice of glass like both of you said.. we will see.. thanks again.
