Killer snake, Where is it from??
later Jason
Those things will be taken (like French Fries & burgers) if proper food is not given, but they need:
insects, wide variety (avoid store-bought crickets if you can)
earthworms (buy a pack from a bait store)
slugs
Examining nearby lawns & shrubs should find all the goodies the Garter will need. Slugs are VERY common in English Ivy.
Did you even notice that the pics where not garters????
Jason
Don't try keeping that poor thing! Best thing would be to give it to an experienced keeper (like me)
:Mark
I would love to hear more on their natural history and founding stock.
That I wasn't the only one thinking that.

I got Bob Hansen, one of the discovers of this new species, to e-mail me a PDF copy of his paper on l. webbi. You can find him on the Mexicana sub-forum or I can e-mail you a copy if you like. As far as I know, there has been only one specimen found, a DOR. Is that the one in the photo?
Bryson and Hartman discovered the second DOR. There was already one in a jar in Ft Worth. Since then at least this one and one more DOR.
As to the original poster's question on "what do they eat?" the answer would be "polystictus and armstrongi" (inside joke).
Forky
they ate stuff found in a garden. BTW I like that "Sinaloan mountain kingsnake" stuff. Who thunk that one up.

I went to look at the paper on l.webbi and realized I mis-spoke when I said it was by Bob Hansen. The authors were ROBERT W. BRYSON JR., JAMES R. DIXON,
AND DAVID LAZCANO. So Joe, there was a second DOR found? What's the story?

someone told me there are live webbi. i don't know who has them (or who he thinks has them.) but he assured me there are more webbi out there. and in captivity. maybe we'll start seeing them for sale in the years to come.

You sure that's a webbi. The pic i saw looked like crap.
you might be on to something. It might be a greenrat, good catch.
Same area. Same habitat. Same snake. Natural variation.
JJ
..it could be a knoblochi X greeri :0
No....I think they are a natural intergrade between Pyro and mexmex......The mDNA reports shows it falling in between both.....

Pinky's taste nice, only if there fresh..
NO....
Anything that happens in the wild is NOT a hybrid....It is a cross or intergrade...
John Lassiter
Oh wait....I am wrong.....again
If species are crossed then it is a wild hybrid.....
John Lassiter
