Hello!!!

Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself, as I'm sure I will have lots of questions to ask you all soon. I just adopted an iguana last week, and I have been reading everything I can on them, here on the internet, and also books. Luckily he/she doesn't come with any bad stories, the person who owned it just lost their job and couldn't offer the iguana everything that it needed, so they ask me to take it. They bought it as a baby, and have had it about 7 months, it has been to the vet and been checked a couple of moths ago, and got a clean bill of health. As of now, he is in a 40 breeder tank, I know it won't last, but I plan to build a cage in the next month with help from my husband. So far everything is going good, he eats good, is using the bathroom daily, and is not bad about handling, I spend about 2 hours with him daily letting him out of the cage for free time, and also handling him, so far, no bites or tailwhips, and while he is freeroaming the room, if I sit down, he will climb up on my leg or arm and just lay there for a few minutes. Well, I guess that's enough for now, just wanted to let everyone know, because I'm sure I will need some advice soon, so I'm counting on all of you, by the way his new name is Zippy. THANKS.

Welcome! My wife and I ended up with an ig a few weeks ago that started as a temperary home until we could find him a new good home and somehow 'Bud' quickly became a member of the family. The people on this board are great and full of useful information and advice! And most importantly they are understanding!

I thought I would get blasted because we originally had to keep Bud in a small 20 gallon since he was, for lack of a better term, a drop off. He has moved into a larger tank while we finish his new enclosure (6ft high, 4ft wide, 5ft long). It should house him for a little while!

Again welcome and look forward to seeing pictures of Zippy sometime!
