Would you say she's a normal or okeetee phase?

My Motega looks just like that. I hope somebody can tell you the diff. I'd like to know too.

I reckon it's a fine line that seperates an "ugly Okeetee" from a "nice normal," that fact that corn snakes are so variable really muddies the waters, unless you know the genetics, it's hard to say for sure.

The animal does not, in my opinion, display the characterisitcs required for one to be deemed an okeetee phase (lookeetee) animal, so it does not meet the definition of an "okeetee" under THAT usage of the term.

Unless the person from whom you bought the snake told you that it was captured on the Okeetee Hunt Club, or that it descended in every direction from animals that were captured there, it does not meet the locality definition of "Okeetee" as the term is used in THAT manner.

So, regardless of the genetics involved, I cannot see how that snake can be an Okeetee OR a lookeetee. It IS, however, a very nice normal...one about which you can be VERY proud!

Hope that helps...Enjoy your snake!

Yeah...that's what I figured. I didn't buy her because she was supposedly an okeetee...I was initially told that she was a normal, but was struck by her looks and how mellow and curious she was, that I fell instantly in love. When I went back to pick her up, the people there said they spoke with the store owner and she said it was actually an okeetee...to which I was "Oh, okay". Heh. The more and more I looked at okeetees (or lookeetees as they say) I didn't think her colors were intense enough, nor her black borders thick enough to actually be classified as such.

Still love the girl though, and I'm sure she won't loose any sleep over being a normal little cornsnake...hehehe...
