Ambon Yellow Head Retic

Leiopython Oct 12, 2005 06:55 AM

Same question about the Ambon, I have the possibilitie to have one of them to, on their website NERD'S says they don't get bigger than 16-18 feet, so I think that males don't get bigger than 12-14 feet.

If someone keep Ambon I would really appreciate an answer and I would like to know their temperament are they docile and in what type and size of cage do you keep yours.

Thank you very much.

Mathieu

Last year I bought a Ambon Retic female. In a short time she went from 16" and eating mice to over two feet and eating rats. This was probably over three months. She had the nastiest attitude. Jay Brewer from Prehistoric Pets looked her over and said that she was one of the meanest snakes he had ever seen and handled. He also told me that Ambons do get large males and females and they rarely calm down. He told me that I could (especially since it was a female) end up with an 18' mean ass snake. I owned her for a few more months then sold her. I have since yet to hear of a nice, tame, friendly, or calm Ambon. If you want a calm handlable retic I would consider getting a captive bred/born snake and remember that patients and time is VERY important when calming baby Retics. If you want something small get a Jampea. They stay small, are beautiful, and are usually calm.
Good Luck,
Chirstine
