indoor lighting ?

I just got through with a tortoise table for my adult male russian that I got about a month ago. I didn't really have a good outside spot for him through winter plus we're still battling parasites with him. I thought it'd be better to go ahead and bring him in before it got cold out.

I have him in a bookshelf that's 6'L x 2 1/2'W. He seems to really like it and very active when he's not laying around. I have a 160watt UV heat bulb on one side but need some more lights b/c the other side isn't to bright. Since this bulb provides heat for basking and UV(he also gets repti-cal about twice a week) can I get away with just some of those spiral flourescent bulbs. I use some in my house and love the light they put out.

That would probably be fine, as long as he doesn't spend the majority of his time at the end without UV.

You can always put another uvb bulb on the other side. I have a strip light uvb (florecent). Also i have a basking spot on both sides of the enclosure. i will try and post pictures so you can see it. It has basking spots on both sides and a uvb bulb.

Well today, I finally dug my smaller PC lights out and set up over my puffer tank. So I took their strip light and replaced the bulb. Smirnov's got lots of nice light now. I thought about another UV/heat basking bulb but he spends plenty of time on that end and heads to the cooler end to sleep at night.
