Opinions on enclosure?

Kilhd Oct 13, 2005 02:31 AM

Hi all...
I am trying to come up with the best all around solution to house my Burmese. (now only about 5 foot long) I have a few ideas.. But one in particular I wonder about. What do you guys think about using a 210 Gallon glass tank as a burm house?
It measures to be 72x24x29 I work in a pet shop and I would be able to get something like that pretty cheap. It would be made by the "All-Glass Aquarium" company. I would need to build a lid of course. And maybe ceramic heat emitters for heat source, or a pro heat panel? Let me know if this is a bad idea please. Thanks!

sounds like it would be pretty tough to clean. It would also be difficult to make a lid thats secure enough for a burm

Ya I agree. Monstercages.com has some really good cages fo $545.

k, thanks for replys.. I think it really would be tough to make a proper lid for sure.. cleaning shouldn't be that hard though.
I could get that tank for about $250 though. And about the monster cages.. I would love one but I don't even wanna imagine what shipping charges would be on something that size. : (

The burm would probably pop off any lid you made for that tank. And trust me, when a huge burm takes a leek, it would be hard to clean in that tank.

Vision cages are light, excape proof, and pretty easy to heat. Shipping and all won't run you as much as a monstercage.

Go here, Animal Plastics and check them out. Great prices IMO and they ship stuff in a way to make it cheaper than other companies.

Or, go here, Craig Stantons Cage Plans and use these plans (which are really good plans, and they make great cages) to make your own. But before jumping into building a cage make sure you read the plans and be sure you have the tools you'll need.
