Is it just me.....

phiber_optikx Oct 13, 2005 05:40 AM

Is it just me or did the Hondo prices drop a LOT this year? I THOUGHT (a key word ) that last year the prices for a tangerine hondo were around $200 and that hypos were about $400 and anery's were around $350. Maybe I was just checking out the insanely expensive sites? Because now you can find hypos for around $100-$150.......

Uh, there have been 10 buh-zillion posts within 12 inches of this one on the forums already discussing EXACTLY your point in great detail. I'm guessing it's safe to say that it's not just you...................

A few colubrid breeders at a local show was telling me its seems the whole colubrid market is in a slump right now. It seems ball pythons are the hottest thing going..

If you look in the ball python posts, they are all thinking the bottom is dropping out there too...has anyone looked at the economy lately... with gas around $3.00 and all other prices starting to follow. People are not buying a whole lot of anything now.I say grab up what ya can now at cheaper prices and enjoy the hobby. Those of you that rely on this for your only source of income, I am sorry but when it comes to buying snakes or getting gas for the car...guess which is going to win out? It ain't so bad for us hobby guys, I do not rely on it for a living...but it does restrict the amount of other snakes I can go out and get. I am finding myself restraining my purchasing and being more choosy in the few animals I get.

You'v made a really good point. Thank god fuel prices are dropping a little. I'm definately taking advantage of all the cheap prices and buying some really nice snakes. I do feel for the people who rely on reptiles for a living. Things will turn around eventaully. In the meantime, I'm going to the shows and getting some great deals.
