Stupid question

LvnWtr4u Jul 20, 2003 11:00 PM

Ok, I know that this is probally a really stupid question but I gottta know. Do female snakes lay eggs even if they have not been mated? You know, like chickens. I want to be prepared for next year. LOL

Hey,
not a stupid question at all! Females can and do lay eggs without a male. Though of course eggs will be infertile, so they lay small yellow eggs. I had a female corn do that this spring. She had been incubated but I didn't want too many babies so I didn't let her breed. But she cycled anyway and laid eggs. They don't always lay eggs, sometimes they can resorb into the body.
