Help Fed Ex UPS won't ship my bearded??!! since when?

mcginncat Oct 13, 2005 08:00 AM

Hey all,

We moved to Seoul SKorea 2 years ago and left our bearded with a friend in NC. We are back in the states and we want to ship our beardie from NC to TX. We've got all the packing and shipping prepared(heat source, etc) and now UPS and FED EX refuse to ship reptiles. SINCE WHEN? ISn't that how breeders ship to customers? Anyone have any idea as to what we can do?

Thanks...Cath

I just talked to ups and they said they DO ship reptiles. So maybe you got some wrong info? Hopefully.

UPS started shipping live animals as of Jan 1st this year. Here is a link to their site with their guidelines. I just shipped 7 babies last week through UPS and they knew what was in the box.

I am not at all sure what happened when Chris took Neko to the UPS counter BUT the man said NO REPTILES. Then we called FED ED and they also said no live animals (which is bunk because the pet store gets them from FED EX, I have the cooler box they use with the labeled contents!!! ARGGHH

We shipped him this am at the post office Express. My problem with EXPRESS is that it guarantees 24-48 hours. We are big city to big city, so the counter thought he'd fly directly and quickly. They say 24 hours but it may be Sat before he gets here.

He is comfy and warm (temps outside are in to 80-90s) and ate loads and went to the bathroom loads before being boxed up. Good vents and great packing materials should make his trip OK.

This is so stressful!!! Cath
