morning surprise revisited

eastarch Oct 13, 2005 08:25 AM

Now that he has been around for a couple of days, I have noticed something. The reason I first thought he looked dehydrated was his tail looked oddly thin. Now that I put on the magnificatin glasses and took a real close look I see he has no fringe on his tail. He has no fringe anywhere. Nothing under the head, nothing along the body. I think my baby is deformed. He (or she) looks healthy enough but odd. See that tail. That is all there is. His eyes are also a funny color. Sort of mud brown. I fear for his continued health because of these anomalies. Well we will see what happens.

are you sure his tail is just not curled? try taking a picture of him while hes on the glass, it might give better insight. no fringes, not even tucked under his chin and sides??? as far as the brown eyes, i would not worry about that seeing as all of the leaftails i have hatched out tend to have darker eyes than the adults.

do you remember the temperatures you incubated the egg(s) at?

I took him out of the tank and looked him over pretty good. There is some fringe at the back edges around the lower edge of his jaw. I don't see any anywhere else. Nothing along the body, or along the edges of the tail. Though the underside of the tail looks similar to the top so maybe it is just tightly wrapped up?

Has he shed his first shed after he hatched, beacuase i think it looks like he´s about to shed? Otherwise that´s a nice leaftail, is it a sikorae? Really cool colors.

Best regards
