Dangers of popping and probing

dleeroach Oct 13, 2005 09:33 AM

Hey all. I have a quick question. You always hear folks say that probing and popping should be done by experienced individuals since they can both cause injury to the snake if done improperly. However, I don't believe (and I've searched the forums) that anyone has ever specifically said what type of injury can occur. I certainly agree wholeheartedly that it should only be done by someone who knows what to do. I was just curious what specific injuries and side-effects can result from improperly probing or popping a snake. Thanks!

Dangers of Popping:

Can break snake's back if done to hard and wrong, or damage internal organs if pressed too hard.

Dangers of Probing:

If forced, the probe can pierce thru the internal organs that you are probing, causing internal hemmorhaging and other issues.
